Prague
A European Story
Prague: A European Story is an immersive, creative exploration of European history through theatre, music, and storytelling. Rooted in the streets and landmarks of Prague — a city shaped by centuries of transformation — this course invites participants to encounter the past not as distant history, but as a living presence.
At its core, A European Story is about connection: understanding how the great movements, revolutions, and ideas of Europe have intersected in one place, and discovering how their echoes still resonate in our contemporary experience.
Approach
This project combines site-based exploration, dramatic re-enactment, and creative writing. Walking through Prague’s historic streets, participants engage directly with the traces of Europe’s turning points — the Reformation, the Thirty Years’ War, the Industrial Revolution, the World Wars, and the Velvet Revolution.
Through performance and song, we give voice to the witnesses of these moments — bringing history to life through theatre, text, and music. Participants will both interpret existing historical material and create their own artistic responses, shaping a collective performance that embodies Europe’s layered past.
Sessions include:
• Guided historical walks through key Prague sites
• Dramatic scenes and songs inspired by historical figures and events
• Workshops in creative writing and devised theatre
• Discussions connecting European history to current social and political contexts
• Collaborative performance development culminating in a shared presentation
The structure is adaptable — the project can be shaped to fit different timeframes (from short sessions to multi-day intensives) and participant needs.
