Testimonials

  • "Shakespeare in song", songs, sonnets and monologues, set to music and performed by Daniel Zappi, is a real surprise. Besides Zappi's splendid voice and the consistent musicality adopted in the compositions, which constitutes a real added value in the unfolding of Shakespearian verses, the very interesting aspect of the artistic project is its enormous educational potential. How many times have we been bored as students in passionless lectures or as spectators of slavish lectures? Well, with 'Shakespeare in song' this never happens because 'Professor Zappi' uses his natural empathy and his unquestionable talent to establish a romantic, passionate, amusing and poetic relationship with his audience, which constantly holds the attention and colours Shakespeare's words with even more interesting hues. 'Shakespeare in song' show is certainly appreciated by adult audiences, but should be compulsory for students of all levels, who could perhaps finally 'understand' and appreciate Shakespeare's poetry.

  • Daniel Zappi’s “Shakespeare in Song” is full of surprises and delights. Daniel works in a great range of musical idioms, and creates a show of refreshing variety. His songs are catchy, memorable, and beautiful. He is a marvelous, soulful singer, and the combination of Shakespeare’s verses, his inimitable tunes, and his magnificent voice make for a wonderful evening in the theatre. His show was an integral and vivid addition to our 2023 Verona Shakespeare Fringe Festival!

  • We listened to Daniel’s musical Shakespearean works as teachers thinking of our young students on a traditionally dry subject. We were buoyed by the thoughts of exuberant young people really enjoying themselves and possibly understanding the relevance of Shakespeare’s themes of love, loss, beauty and the passage of time as universal themes relevant today, in poetry and songs, as they were to people who lived in the 16th century. Daniel gave a brilliant performance for all ages.
